What are you doing now? (both professionally and personally)
Professionally I am a project engineer working for Roads & Maritime Services. Personally I’m about to get married! So that’s a very exciting part of my life at the moment.
What do you remember of Hunter Life Education and Healthy Harold?
One clear thing I remember from Harold was learning about why it is unhealthy to smoke. This stayed with me for life – I have still not touched a smoke. I also remember learning about the names of our organs and their functions. I remember loving this! All the kids did. Looking back now Healthy Harold was a great experience and I am so glad the program is still running, allowing kids to experience what I did.
What advice would you offer parents of children today?
I could advise parents of today that if kids want something sweet offer them some fruit instead of lollies. Make dessert time a fruit sliced up- get them use to this over the processed stuff! For babies, introduce vegetables before fruit. I also feel quite strongly about giving kids soft drinks- to me that’s a no go. Fruit drinks are ok! Finally, don’t feed your kids cocoa pops or fruit loops for breakfast – make sure they intake a nutritious breakfast for their days activities.
